Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word.”

Adolescent Baptism (7 yrs – 17 yrs)
According to the Church’s law regarding children, once a person has reached the age of discretion, which is about seven years old, and is able to determine right from wrong on their own, they are considered an adult with regard to the Sacraments.
Children over seven years old who are in need of Baptism and First Communion will attend the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for children, a class united integrally with the Mass and liturgical rites that draw them deeper into a relationship with Christ while preparing them intellectually and morally to live a Christian life in union with Christ and His Bride, the Church. RCIA for Children takes place on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. during the regular RRPS and Religious Education school year. Classes will take place online. Contact Amanda Sheehan at firstname.lastname@example.org or the Parish Office for information at (505) 771-8331 or register below.
We encourage children preparing for the Sacraments of Baptism and First Communion also attend Religious Education classes to ensure that they receive as full of formation as possible. To register your child for Religious Education classes, click here.
